It seems pretty straightforward: you've got your sorcery schools for magic, your martial disciplines for fighting, and your esoteric disciplines for everything else. My question is this: can you combine any two of the above?
Some people say yes, some say no. I think it's okay provided it's not some sort of Exalted charm tree of doom.

Let's say I'm developing a discipline for a bunch of warrior-scholars? Do I want to invent a separate martial discipline for thinkin' and another for fightin', or do I want to invent one combined esoteric discipline that does both? What about courtier-duelists? What about a highly combative school of war sorcery that focuses on personal magic and arcane bladework? Is that just a school of sorcery, a school of sorcery some martial techniques somehow thrown in, or a school of sorcery and a martial discipline side-by-side?
That's no problem. Create a discipline for one specialty and a path for the weapons. You can create some sort of combo effects too (I think Blades for the Empress does this to some extent). Don't forget the use of Advantages in this set up - Advantages are like one-off techniques.
